Favourite Scene 1: Fight Club- This is a chemical burn

Now, I know this kind of feature or post has been done numerous time by different bloggers, but it's nothing wrong if I do my version as well, right? We are all intitled to our opinions bla bla! :) Kudos for the one who first started, sorry I don't know your name!

Anyway, to start with, just a light, bad-ass ascene from Fight Club, one the best films out there! It's big, powerful, raw, with a lot of action, witty dialogue and no-bullshit attitudes. It's probably one of Brad Pitt's best performances to date(in my opinion) and the next scene is a perfect example of that:

For no particular reason, I just love it! The pain and the desperation of Edward Norton's character, as he tries to shut out the pain through meditation, the speech/ philosophical shit Tyler says ("without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing"), the gestures(*slaps Norton* "this is the greatest moment of your life, and you're off somewhere, missing it"), the attitude, voice and interpretation delivered by Brad Pitt- I can't see anyone else pulling off that scene and those lines- everything fits.

And the end has the best line and a personal favourite quote: "It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything"

I want to hear from you guys- what is your favorite scene? Please let me know in the comments and link it, as well, if you can!

  1. What a great scene! I love that movie, there are so many brilliant moments. One of my favorite scenes of all time is the opening scene of my all-time favorite movie Werckmeister Harmonies. It's ten minutes long but it's beautiful and always brings tears to my eyes. Here it is on YouTube:

  4. Powerful scene you picked! When Norton beats up himself in front of his boss at the office was a scene that stayed with me.

Talking of favourite scenes, the ending of Paris je t'aime (2006) gets me every time emotionally.

  5. @Tyler: Thanks, I will check it out today!
@Scott: :) Didn't knew you were such a big Fight Club fan- maybe the Drive love should have directed me towards it, I think they are similar in some ways!
@Nikhat: Yes, it is, I love it! I actually just bought the DVD for it, can't wait to see it again!
@Chris: The beating scene is unreal, I remember who shocked I was the first time I saw it! Oh, and I love Paris, je t'aime, but I don't remember the last scene, I will have to look it up online! was it the story of the girl and the boy at the moschee?

  6. Also my favourite film ever! I love the closing moments as The Pixies come on to collapsing buildings. 'you met me at a very strange time in my life'. Never wanted to leave a cinema less in my life than the two times I saw this on the big screen. Truly life-affecting!

  9. I absolutely adore when he says that only after we lose everything we can achieve something - Fight Club has so many poignant observations. Great post!

  10. What a brilliant video! I love watching 'Fight Club', it gets more and more relevant the older that I get. It still continues to blow my mind and you are right, that chemical burn scene is just outstanding. I think my favourite scene in 'Fight Club' is when they're in the bar and Durden says "The things you own end up owning you". I keep thinking about this every time I buy a new gadget...

    Great post :)
